4TH EDITION OF SANSALVASTORIE 2026

Making one’s voice heard through creativity and a love for cinema: all of this is SanSalvaStorie, the first Festival in San Salvatore Monferrato (AL) entirely dedicated to short films—a format as brief as it is capable of unleashing a powerful narrative impact.

Cinema returns to liven up the summer evenings of San Salvatore Monferrato with a new edition of SanSalvaStorie, the Festival dedicated to short films that, year after year, confirms its place as an event capable of bringing together culture, the local area, and community participation. Born from an idea by Stefano Careddu and Ilaria Briolini, the Festival has become a meeting point for authors, artists, and audiences, valuing the language of short film as a tool for storytelling, discussion, and reflection.

The fourth edition will take place on Thursday, July 23, and Friday, July 24, 2026, starting at 9:30 PM, in the evocative setting of Piazza Carmagnola, the heart of San Salvatore Monferrato, which for two nights will transform into a large open-air cinema.

Once again this year, the Festival will offer the public a rich program of free screenings, encounters with guests and authors, artistic collaborations, and in-depth discussions dedicated to highly topical issues. A journey that confirms SanSalvaStorie’s desire to promote independent cinema and short films not only as an art form, but also as an opportunity for dialogue, inclusion, and cultural growth.

Throughout the two evenings, several directors and guests who are protagonists of the event will be present, creating a direct dialogue with the audience and contributing to highlighting the Monferrato region, its excellences, and its dedication to hosting high-quality cultural initiatives.

Among the guests of the fourth edition will be actor and director Alberto Basaluzzo, featured in an interview led by Stefano Careddu, during which he will talk about his artistic journey and present the short film Black Tank.

The 2026 edition further confirms SanSalvaStorie’s desire to be not just a film festival, but also a space for discussion and cultural growth, thanks to important collaborations that broaden the dialogue between cinema, art, and social issues.

S.C. Salute mentale ASL AL, through the Mental Health Center, made possible also thanks to the support of the Lions Club of San Salvatore Monferrato. During the first evening, the short film Comunque Stare, produced as part of the ALI 2 Project dedicated to the topic of mental health, will be screened. The screening will be introduced by professionals from the ASL, the Mental Health Center, and operators from the Anteo Cooperative, who work closely with the everyday realities experienced by the people involved.

An opportunity to reiterate how cinema can become a tool for listening, understanding, and breaking down prejudices.

The collaboration with Monferrato DanzArte—the artistic project created and directed by Patrizia Campassi—is also renewed, bringing the dialogue between dance and cinematic language to the Festival once again this year. In collaboration with the Premio Libera Connessione, several winning works from the competition's second edition dedicated to the theme of time will be presented, including Where the River Is Time by young Chinese artist Tang Guo and H-EARTH by Madhav Davide Valmiki. A collaboration that confirms the Festival's desire to open up to different artistic languages, creating new expressive perspectives.

Among the news of this fourth edition, the Corte dei Corti Film Festival—a historic traveling Italian film showcase—joins SanSalvaStorie, launching a new collaboration aimed at creating an increasingly broad network dedicated to promoting short films and independent cinema.

A new collaboration also begins with the Circolo del Cinema Adelio Ferrero, a cultural organization from Alessandria that has always been committed to spreading film culture through meetings, debates, and moments of reflection. A presence that strengthens SanSalvaStorie's mission as a place of shared thought, where cinema becomes an opportunity to question the present, engage with one another, and look at the world with greater awareness.

Among the new partnerships, there is also room for the Marielle Franco Anti-Violence Center, which during the Festival will offer food for thought dedicated to combating gender-based violence and promoting a culture of respect. An initiative that confirms how the seventh art can be not only entertainment, but also a tool for raising awareness, building mindfulness, and driving social change.

The fourth edition will also feature the short film competition, which will see the participation of Italian and international works selected for their artistic and narrative quality. A dedicated jury made up of members of the Tantasà Cultural Association will decree the winners, while the audience present will award, as is tradition, the Audience Award.

Believing in the fourth edition of the Festival from the very beginning were numerous local businesses that chose to support its realization as sponsors, enthusiastically contributing to the growth of an event that, year after year, continues to enhance the region through cinema. Among these: Modugno 2.0, Pizzeria Modugno, Cascina Dionigi 4.0, Locanda Cafè, STAC – Centro Assistenza Caldaie di Marco Pasino, Vivaio La Serenissima di Castelletto Monferrato, Tinteggiature e Coloriture Interni/ Esterni di Matteo Conte, Dany Service di Daniele Falvo, Autolavaggio Mazzoleni di Mazzoleni Federico, Fiori allo Specchio, Malibook, Calzedonia Valenza, Assicurazione Picchi – UnipolSai, and Enrico Terzano Srl.

SanSalvaStorie is a Festival sponsored by the Municipality of San Salvatore Monferrato and the Province of Alessandria.
